Hyperactivity
Although that is what they're called, hyperactive dreamers' do not necessarily have to portray intense hyperactivity; this is not a trait by which they're supposed to be identified with in the first place. Hyperactivity, with those more hyperactive, is slightly different from the universal idea of hyperactivity - it is not just physical; on a greater scale, it is mental and it reflects their state of mind. That is the reason why they necessitate a stimulus - playing with a pencil, walking in the room or in circles while they're thinking, playing with objects, or general restlessness.
Therefore, by directing this excess energy to an activity, they calm their thoughts without difficulty - they become more relaxed, they think and concentrate easier, and they become more focused. Otherwise, if they are pressured to keep still and if their need for movement is not satisfied, the energy becomes counterproductive, making it difficult for them to focus, concentrate and think. Therefore this hyperactive energy is not necessarily productive at all times, while on the other hand, it serves as fuel to their interests in later times.
